Privacy

Draft, last updated 6 October 2026. To be reviewed before any public launch.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email, the first name you gave us, and a scrambled (hashed) password if you use one. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we keep the identifier they give us, and your email and first name.
  • Your household: the people you pack for (first names, and whether each is an adult or a child), the things on your list, your trips, and what you’ve ticked.
  • Children’s birth month and year, only if you choose to add them. We use these to suggest a starting set of things when you set up, and they stay in your household. We don’t use them for anything else.
  • Which pages are visited, and a few steps in the app: a random number stored in a cookie on your device, the pages you open, roughly what kind of device and browser you use, and which site or ad brought you here. We note when you sign up, finish setup, make a trip and so on, so we can see where people get stuck. We don’t keep your IP address. This is only on our own server and isn’t shared. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, we don’t count you at all.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other sites. We don’t use third-party analytics or advertising cookies. Our cookies are the one that keeps you signed in, the visit-counting one above, and a short-lived one used during Apple sign-in.

Who else sees things

  • Weather: if you enter a place and dates, the place name and dates are sent to Open-Meteo to look up the forecast. Nothing about who you are is sent.
  • Sign-in: Google and Apple, if you choose them, learn that you signed in to Zipi.
  • Hosting: Zipi runs on Railway, which stores the data on our behalf.
  • People you share with: anyone you invite to your household can see everything on it.
  • Trip links: if you share one trip by link, anyone who has the link can see that trip’s list and tick things off, without an account. They see nothing else. You can turn the link off at any time.

Your choices
