Tips
- Agree the plan with your child before they go: if they want to come home, they can call you.
- Pack the comfort item at the top of the bag so it’s easy to reach.
- Tell the host about allergies, medicines and anything that helps your child settle.
- Keep the bag small. They’ll carry it themselves.
Common questions
What should my child take to a sleepover?
Pyjamas, a comfort item, a change of clothes, a toothbrush and toothpaste, any medicine and a sleeping bag or pillow if the host asks. A spare outfit and your phone number are good back-ups.
What if my child wants to come home in the night?
Agree it beforehand: they can phone you and you’ll collect them, no questions asked. Knowing that is often enough to help them settle.
Should I tell the host about allergies?
Yes, always. Write down allergies, medicines and any bedtime routines and give them to the host.
