Kids’ packing list: what to pack for children of any age
This is a starting list for a child on a trip of about a week. Take what suits your child and leave the rest. Every child packs differently, so add the things only you know matter: the particular blanket, the one cup, the headphones.

In the day bag
Put the child’s own things in a bag they can reach, so you’re not digging through the main case.

Tips
- Pack by outfit if it helps: a top, bottoms and underwear rolled together.
- Let older children choose and pack their own bag, then check it together. Pictures work well for younger ones.
- Take one more of the thing that is hardest to replace: the comfort toy, the exact cup, the charger.
- Pack clothes by how many days you’ll go between washes, not by the number of nights.
Common questions
How many outfits should a child have for a week?
As a guide, one set of underwear and socks per day, then about three or four sets of outerwear that can be mixed, plus pyjamas and a spare. If there’s a washing machine at your destination, you can pack about half that.
What should kids carry themselves?
Whatever suits your child: a small bag with their comfort item, a water bottle, a book and snacks is a good start. Some children prefer you to carry everything, and that’s fine.
Can I reuse this list for every trip?
Yes, that’s the point of a repeat list. Zipi keeps your usual list per person, so each trip starts from what you normally pack.
