Tips

  • Wrap a couple of cheap new things in paper. Unwrapping takes minutes.
  • Dress them in layers. Planes are cold, then warm, then cold.
  • Take the pushchair to the gate if the airline allows. Ask when you check in.
  • Let them walk the aisle during the quiet bits. Knowing the journey is going to be hard is half of getting through it.

Common questions

What snacks are best for a toddler on a plane?

Whatever your child reliably eats. Many families bring something familiar, something crunchy and something that takes time to eat, in small separate bags.

How many nappies should I take in my hand luggage?

Around one an hour of travel including airport time, plus about four spare.

Is a tablet okay on a flight?

Many parents use one and are glad of it. Download shows before you leave and pack headphones sized for small ears.

One list per person, one link for whoever helps.
