- Check the forecast. Evenings can be cooler than you expect, so keep one light layer each.
- Drink early and often. Offer children water before they ask.
Common questions
What should I pack for a hot-weather holiday with kids?
Light cotton clothes, two swimsuits each, sun hats, high-factor sun cream, sunglasses, water bottles and a light layer for the evenings. Add rash vests, after-sun and insect repellent.
How many outfits do children need in hot weather?
About one a day plus spares, because children get hot and sticky. Washing and drying is quick in the heat, so you can pack fewer.
How do I keep a baby cool at night?
Use a light sheet, a well-ventilated room and a fan if it’s safe. Check the advice for your baby’s age on safe room temperature and sleep.
